Web data books

Further information

Each cell in the web data book has a schematic and a layout graphic in GIF format. The schematic graphic is made manually with GIMP. The schematic drawing is in Postscript format which can be read by GIMP and a GIF file written out.

The layout graphic is made by creating a Postscript file from the CIF file using pplot and then using Adobe Illustrator to create the GIF graphic. Illustrator does a nice job of filling layers, adding transparency and beautifying text, but only runs in Windows, has crude batching capabilities and is expensive. The pictures below show the Postcript file viewed with gv and the GIF file written by Illustrator.
